PhD funding - where to start??

Hi, I'm finally honing in on a place to do my PhD but there aren't any current opportunities for funding available through the university. I don't want to apply for any 'advertised' PhDs that come with funding as per findaphd.com, as it's important to me to research what I want rather than tap into existing research, even though that might already come with a stipend. So, in this situation of 'going it alone' I was wondering where to start in looking for funding??

For reference my PhD will be business based and encompassing the topics of psychology, leadership, organisational culture change and environmental / green strategy, so may cover a number of areas of potential funder interest.

Several years ago I remember looking at a site - I think called 'HERO' - which provided information on funding, but I can't find it now!! :frown:
