English, ICT or Law degree?

In the right thread?

I can't decide on a career. I've three options.
I can either study a degree in English, ICT or Law. English would be a good degree to brush up on my communication, debating and literate skills. I don't want to be a teacher but having the option to do that is a plus, I'd really like to go on to work at a magazine but the job prospects are not as good in this area. Also i've been told English is a worthless degree  I've always wanted to read and write books and love getting into the context of literature.
ICT is a subject I enjoy, am good at and have a good chance of getting a job when I finish the degree, it doesn't pay too bad either. The big downside is that it is a very specialised degree and then I may not have the opportunity to change careers if I were to change my mind.
Law isn't a subject I've studied before but I've always been told it would be a career that would suit me, I would love to find out about the workings of the law and I'm guessing it may have good job prospects.
I have to write my personal statement for UCAS, and it would be awkward to talk about all three because the tutors may think that I can't make decisions (which I can't but they can't know that lol)

I'd love to know what you all think. Anyone studied these subjects before or could offer some advice?
I'd go for English or Law, with preference towards Law, as, although it may seem quite specialised, it looks good as a degree in general.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose Law and English are considered more, traditional?

Yeah, I guess so. Either one would be a good choice, I'd just do the one you enjoy the most.

You can always convert to law no matter what degree you have. The GDK (Graduate Diploma in Law) is a one-year conversion course for that very purpose. Half of the solicitors working in law firms today are conversion students. So don't be deterred about law if you don't study it at university.

I say go for English, it sounds like something you would enjoy doing. You can always switch careers afterwards, English is a very transferrable degree after all.
Above all, more important than anything, without a shadow of a doubt, do the subject that you enjoy!
