Re-applying for University after dropping out... reference?

I'm dropping out of my first year Business course and re-applying to start again at a different university in a different course...

My question is, do I need to get a new reference from my current University or can I use the reference that I used from High School to initially get onto my current course?

Could I use a reference from an employer as opposed to a tutor?

Ideally your referee should be from your current university.

If that isn't possible because noone at your current uni is willing to provide you with a reference then you still need an academic reference so it could be from your school.

Employer references are only an option if you're applying for a vocational course and have no academic reference available.
