yes absolutely! I believe the deadline for submitting applications for resits is in January, as we no longer have the option of January resits so they give us more time to decide. I'm planning to resit 2 modules and my school haven't prompted me to apply for resits yet so I'm not even sure you can apply yet.
as for getting into uni, I think most universities would prefer you resit and get their grade offers, there are some exceptions such as Edinburgh, who insist that grades must be attained in the first sitting. even Oxbridge don't mind too much if you resit the odd module.
hope this helped!

ooh okay I see, I don't think there should be too much of a problem but you may need to take a gap and apply with your better A2 grades (if your AS grades were really that bad). out of interest are you planning to do all your A2 exams + retakes this year or do them over 3 years?

This is really a conversation you should be having with your teachers/tutor/head of sixth form. Policies are different for each school so it will vary. Normally, you would have to move to college since 6th form is only to 18, and by the time you finish you'll be 19 if you start AS again.

Obviously since you'll have studied A levels for 3 years you'll be at a disadvantage, and unis are likely to place candidates of similar academic profiles before you. However, if you do turn out with good grades, you'll still have a good chance of being given an offer. Have you applied to universities yet?

Hi, sorry for the late reply

but no I haven't applied to universities yet... at the moment im tangled between which branch of engineering I want to get into(either civil or mechanical). Retaking would give me more of a chance to think but also I would be able to do further maths which I didn't do in the first year.

beacuse of my GCSE's, i stand a feeble chance of getting into oxbridge anyway. If I retake I would be able to apply to imperial for every type of engineering except civil.

HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND, THANKS!!!

In my year now, there are a lot of people who should have started uni this year, so I will be the same as them in the younger year.
Ur offer will be based on what uve already done so it's to late I'm afraid

Engineering is seriously competitive, I would talk to your physics teacher or something before making any hasty decisions. I have a friend who has applied to study engineering. They chose some general engineering courses because they're undecided as well, you study all of them at the start and then specialise later on. Don't know if this helps? Could you not just pick up F.maths now as an AS? It's quite common.

If I were in your position, I would pick up F.maths as an AS and keep going. Retake the ones I didn't do so well in the summer and apply post-A.

it was in the paper on results day on how someone who got into Oxford for biochemistry actually resat his ASs after getting Us

I could, but I think I would manage better starting them again, and also I feel i would be able to achieve better grades. (its more likely the unis will accept me aswell)
