Manga is weird for women.

On one hand, you generally have strong woman characters who beat up men for the slightest pevy thoughts or behaviour.
On the other, you have these, not so subtle, innocent skirt raises and such.

What's it like seeing the latter as a confident and empowered Western woman?

I got a friend and she loves anime, who cares if it is weird or not, as long as you are enjoying yourself thats all it matters. :I

It honestly doesn't bother me. Weird, because in other things, it would probably annoy me. But you also have the men doing "cute" or silly stuff, so I think it makes it okay

Movies? 2D. 3D is a waste of money I feel.

Tbf I think that most of the female characters are just there to counterbalance all the males. You always get one or two token women for every dozen guys, and they generally squeal and call guys pervs and are sometimes a bit badass, but they're often there just to complete a world made about guys and be "the woman", or be the love interest, etc. The fact that they're women is always right in your face, generally with boobs. You can't be a badass that happens to be a woman, you have to be a woman that somehow is a badass...

Then again I read more shounen than anything. The only manga that comes to mind atm that has a main female protagonist is Inu-Yasha.
What colour is your underwear?
