For by the grace given me I say to every one of you:

Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought,

but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

For just as each of us has one body with many members,

and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body,

and each member belongs to all the others.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;

if it is serving, then serve;

if it is teaching, then teach;

if it is to encourage, then give encouragement;

if it is giving, then give generously;

if it is to lead do it diligently;

if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully

God purchased you at a high price. Do not be enslaved to this world.

Not from a holy book, but

'Man connot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.' Andre Gide

Love this.

I'm pretty sure this quote is from Christopher Columbus :s-smilie:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,

let us throw off everything that hinders and

the sin that so easily entangles.

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

fixing our eyes on Jesus,

the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

For the joy set before him he endured the cross,

scorning its shame,

and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners,

so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

I am not a Christian, but I find this one to be quite profound:

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things - and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are...
My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.

For what children are not disciplined by their father?
If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—
then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.
Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and
we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the
Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they
thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may
share in his holiness.
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.
Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those
who have been trained by it.
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy;

without holiness no one will see the Lord
The eye cannot say to the hand,

“I don’t need you!”

And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!”

On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,

and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor.

And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,

while our presentable parts need no special treatment.

But God has put the body together,

giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,

so that there should be no division in the body,

but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it;

if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
That is why, for Christ’s sake,

I delight in weaknesses,

in insults,

in hardships,

in persecutions,

in difficulties.

For when I am weak, then

I am strong.

One of my favourites. Thank you.
Ecclesiastes 3:13

And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God
Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field” Matthew 13:44
To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen - Jude 1:2-5
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.
- Psalm 71:23
I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.
