Fine Art Portfolio

I'm considering applying to do a HNC in Fine Art, but only have an AS in art and a media based art foundation. I know I can probably get in if I have a good enough portfolio, but i need help on how to start! I have no inspiration and don't know what to put into one! I know they probably don't want meaningless drawings and paintings that look nice but have no meaning behind it! I'm finding it really difficult to find a starting point for my own projects!!

Can anyone help me with ideas or what kind of things I can do?!
