Help! Getting poor grades in English literature

I know this may sound stupid but ive only started to revise over the past week or so and i get mostly a*'s and a's in my subjects with the occasional B in rs but for some reason no matter how hard i try in lit, i never end up getting a b or sometimes a c for that matter. Can anyone give me some simple tips to achieve a c grade?
Read the book lots of times so you are very familiar with it. Pick out the main themes and pick out strong quotes to do with the theme. When you are writing use a clear p.e.e.or p.e.e.l structure.
Always make a plan before you write an essay in an exam! It sounds like its a waste of time but you waste more time thinking when you need to be writing. Think about what the exam might ask then find quotes that you can use. Then use those quotes in the plan.
