A 9 in Maths, 9 in Computer Science and 9 in Physics, and got an A* in Computer Science, A* in Maths and A* in Physics at A level.
But the key was that I never relied on the teaching and studied mostly independantly during GCSE, so was more prepared for A levels, as during GCSE you are pretty much spoon fed.

GCSE Biology C, Art D, Design and communication (basically technical drawing didn't take it GCSE) A'level Biology flunked it. Art E, Design and communication D. It was 1992 and 1994, so grading was awarded differently back then (If I remember rightly its was something along the lines of 90%+ A*, 80-89 % A, 70-79% B, 60-69% C etc).
What grade did you get in a level and for gcse in the same subject?
If I took a subject for both gcse and a level then I got the top grade in both.
I believe it is more common to get a higher grade in gcse compared to a level but a lot depends on your circumstances and how you may change when making the transition.
