Hey, I'm doing Divided union for this and the exam is mainly about technique but my teachers haven't taught much about it. Any tips on answering the questions ??

Thanks x

Question 1- inference
2 supported inferences
So something that isnt directly told in the source and support these with a quote explaining how it tells you that (No own knowledge)

Question 2 -
Remember PMC
Purpose, message and content (Do separate paragraphs for each)
So purpose would be for example, to persuade, to put pressure on the government, to encourage etc.
Message- what is the source saying
Content - All you need is one piece of own knowledge to get full marks

Question 3 - Cross reference
3 paragraphs..
- First one on how source B supports source A. Start with source b (fully/partially/provides little) support for source, explain blah blah use some quotes to show ONE similarity/difference dont have to show both but if partiqlly supports could go into both

-Second para... exactly the same as first but for source C and its support for source A

- Third para... Reliability of the sources. Is source B reliable, explain why.. then is source C reliable, explain why Finally, which source is MOST reliable and why e.g. gives a first hand experience of the event

Question 4 -
Remember NOPCRU (write at the top of ur question and cross off as you go)

Nature, origin, purpose, content, reliability, Useful

First para source D...
N + O - what is he source e.g. a Letter, then state where the source is coming from
P- same as q. 2 just state what its trying to do
C- Just talk about what the source is suggesting use a quote 1 sentence will do
R- Is the source reliable, look at where its from, who its from
U- literally one sentence.. e.g. This source is useful because it is an opinion despite its biased nature

Do exactly the same for the second para on source E

Question 5 -
The biatch question
Firstly use 5 sources 6 is not needed for full marks

Group the sources making a mini table on supports the hypothesis/ does not support the hypothesis

Do an intro and get all your own knowledge in there e.g. if its on black power just rant on about what you know, what they did etc. Not too much info

Now go onto the group of sources that support the hypothesis e.g. say -sources A, B, D support the hypothesis.
Explain each sources separately and why they support and give the extent of support .. source A Fully supports .. source B partially supports etc.

Now do another para on the same sources but talk about their reliability

Now start on the sources that do not support and do exactly the same

The conclusion- the STRENGTH of the sources (needed for full marks) so which source is best and most useful, think about how reliable/ complete they are and do they ommit important info and say why the other sources are not best

You are welcome
Did this for own revision purposes too, I have a life, I swear
