Would you ever not date someone because of their strong political views?

Poll

Please tick ALL that apply. :) Which of these would you NEVER date?

You meet someone you really like, they tick pretty much all your boxes, but there is one rather big sticking point. They have some political views which you find abhorrent. Perhaps you think they're misguided and don't think it reflects on their character (after all you might be thinking you would never fancy someone who has a set of views which you find repulsive).

Would you date them? And would you stay with them if they didn't change their views after explaining to them why they're misguided or wrong?

I'm very politically aware, so most parties would be ok. However, if a girl ticked every box but supported BNP or the National Front, then this is something I wouldn't be able to deal with no matter how many other boxes she ticked.

Well as a mixed-race girl, it'd probably be quite tricky to be in a relationship with a UKIP voter as they'd be constantly nagging me to go back where I came from.

I'm married to a die- hard Socialist. At the Europeans, I voted UKIP and he voted Green.
Why aren't Tories on there? I'm sure there are loads of kids, especially in the north, who have been warned to never bring one of those scumbags home...

I'd only not date BNP off that list.

No BNP or communists. Both as deluded as each other!
How strong is 'strong'?
As in mildly obsessed, bordering stupidity or Stalin style?

There are people with strong political views that you can learn to live with - if you really like them and eventually love them, you need to learn to accept all of them for who they are.

Then again, dating the new Hitler is not a good idea.
As a person of an ethnic minority, dating a BNP or UKIP supporter would be pretty awkward ...
I wouldn't vote anyone who strongly supported BNP, revolutionary communism or the Green Party simply because our ideals just wouldn't match. I don't think a partner necessarily has to have exactly the same beliefs but I'd like to understand where they're coming from at least. As for the Green Party, that's just because I don't think I could deal with living with an extremely vocal environmentalist for the rest of my life. I do what I can for global warming but I can't stand the not flushing the toilet after urinating stuff loads of them tell you to do.
Yer where are the tories? I don't get why they're so special that they don't need to be on this list.
Revolutionary communist and BNP would bother me.

Green party member might be a bit awkward as well, as a lot of them are vegetarians. Not very good for sex life if they don't eat meat, if you know what I'm saying :perv:
probably if they were radical but not if they were centre or left/right well it would depend how far right they are
other than that it'd be cool to have someone who has strong views, would make for interesting conversation

Agreed, most of the people who are commenting know literally nothing about UKIP's policies and just brand them as racists because that is a lot easier for them.
Why is everyone bashing UKIP? UKIP don't hate immigrants. What a stupid, mis-informed and ignorant thing to say.
I wouldn't date a communist - I may date a BNP member, but it depends on if they're actually racist or not, I could never date a racist.

I could date someone who supported the Green Party, but I would try to change their mind.
Nope. Just as long as they're not part of some subversive extremist militia. We'll be fine! :yy: lol
The question is, will someone who doesn't believe in what I believe in willing to date me? I'm from da gheddo

they do. They go out of their way to appeal so the racist vote
I don't think I could have a similar enough life outlook to anyone more right wing than the conservatives to get on with them enough. I'm quite keen on the life that capitalism has given me so if they were genuinely a revolutionary communist surely they'd try to get me to lose a lot of this
