He said that LGBT(I?) people are "evil" and a "scourge". That is hate speech.

Is there a video of it?

No. But here is an article written by the man himself.

There is a difference between freedom of speech and allowing hate speech.

And what about the obscene drawings of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم‎ ?
They weren't hateful were they?

Hypocrites.

I usually don't agree with any of your points, because you are quite radical (I believe you once said Shias aren't Muslims?) but you have a good point right now.

Last time I checked the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم‎ was a person.

And ideas should have something called respect.

Thanks.
And yeah I did, but I take back what I said about Shias.

Really we're comparing insulting dead historical figures to offensive remarks about people today? Calling gay people a scourge encourages violence and discrimination against them. Insulting historical figures does nothing to anyone.

He is a dead person. He does not get offered the same rights as alive people.

Why should they get respect?

Respect is earned not given.

Except for the people who hugely look up to them.

Where's the freedom of speech you were all banging on about a couple of weeks ago?

1. In the vast majority of countries, freedom of speech does not include speech that incites hatred against traditionally-persecuted minorities. 2. If a university can expel a student for their language, then they should be able to prohibit a hate preacher from speaking on campus.

I don't think you know what hate speech is.

Silly analogy.

What about people who look up to Catherine the Great or Elizabeth I? Should we ban all satire about them?

Second, you simply cannot compare insulting a long-dead man to inciting hatred against a traditionally-persecuted group of live people.

Your really going to struggle to argue that is somehow worse that calling a currently alive community of people evil and a scourge.

You could easily reverse it, which is more offensive saying Christ was a pillock or Muslims are evil? The first comment is not particularly nice but it is nothing on the scale of stereotyping and insulting a whole community of currently alive people.

Respect should only be earned when you've done something that makes others lose respect for you.

Things Islam has been involved in which could make people respect it less... can you think of any?
