S1 edexcel help!

can someone help me on normal distribution?
Q7 in jan 2012
Find the value of w such that P(232 < W < w) = 0.20
so i found p(W>232) which is 0.5 and all of it equals 0.2, how would you find out w? In the mark scheme is says you have to subtract 0.2 from 0.5 to get 0.3, why?
And in Q6 June 2007 there is a similar question
Find the value of d such that P(20 < X < d) = 0.4641
so i found again p(X>20) to be 0.5 but they added 0.5 to 0.4641 instead, why?
thanks
Hey there, I highly recommend going on Examsolutions - he has worked video solutions for nearly every past paper and he explains things really well ! I literally did January 2012 this morning so that one is up there too  Here's the link for your convenience:

thanks i watched the examsolutions videos of the questions i was stuck on but both of them seemed to contradict themselves as in one question you needed to subtract them but in the 2007 question you needed to add them?
