Would love more information on social work as a career!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this so hope I've posted in the right place! I'm considering applying for a a degree in social work in 2016 and I'm just kind of unsure about the whole thing. I was wondering if any current social work students or social workers would have insight into the course, particularly in terms of the placements you do and the workload/assessments involved?

I already have a level 7 degree, in an unrelated area and i'm really nervous about potentially starting another degree and getting it wrong again basically. I have a good bit of experience working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities and older people and I know I love this kind of work but I'm just not sure as to whether social work is for me!

I've also been looking into the joint degrees in learning disability nursing/social work and am wondering if anyone on here is studying this in any of the unis? I'd love to know how challenging it is in terms of balancing the two areas, I'd imagine its very intense!

Thanks so much in advance, apologies for the essay!
