Law conversion or law degree?

Is it better to spend three years learning the law inside out - or study a subject you love and do a conversion?

There isn't actually one that is better than the other really. Most law firms are happy if you get a 2:1 or a 1st in your chosen degree and show you are capable when it comes to law. Try to get loads of work experience as it would possibly help the decision of whether to do a law degree or the conversion.

The subject you study matters a lot less for your legal career prospects than (a) where you study and (b) what grades you get there.

At the end of a three year law degree you certainly won't know the law inside out.
there are branches of the Law, most obviously IP law, in which a first degree in something else [+ conversion] will stand you in better stead than will a degree in Law. Otherwise, there's no advantage conferred beyond the skipping of the conversion year.
