INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WITH TIER 4: Do you get paid during your PhD?

Since locals are funded by the NHS and get paid during their study, how about international students? Do we get paid too?

What course/subject and level of study are you talking about here? And what do you mean by 'work'?

NHS funding applies to Medicine, Nursing/Midwifery and Allied Health courses only - and only at undergrad, or for some postgrad 'professional qualification' courses, and yes, only to eligible students. UK/EU applicants doing a PhD, even within Medicine, are not routinely funded by the NHS or any other funding body and have to rely on the same uncertain funding situation as for any other STEM subject.

Psychology. Most of the PhD students I know are being paid.

They will either be receiving 'studentships' or they will be being paid for teaching work etc, or they have a substantive post in the Dept. If you think you are being treated unfairly you need to take it up with your own University. However, as a non-UK/EU student you can't expect to receive the same financial assistance as they do.
