network card???

i just got an email giving me info about how to connect to the net in my room at halls but it says something about connecting a cable from my computers network card to the socket in the room.......

what is a network card and how do i know if my computer has 1?

If you haven't got one, they're pretty cheap (like, £10 or less) and don't take much effort to fit. You probably will have one, most PCs do now.

Anyone have problems viewing the email on windows live mail through IE7? Half of the email was cut off and I was unable to scroll down, so after fussing around installing Mozilla Firefox, I was able to read the email and in the end it contained no useful info that I didn't know already!! :biggrin:

If you click your start menu, then right click 'my computer' then properties on the menu. then at the top of the screen that comes up click 'hardware'. then below that click 'device manager'. This will open a list of the hardware your computer has. There should be a listing "Network adapters". If you click the little plus sign next to it, it will tell you what network card you have in your PC. If you dont see 'network adapters' then you either dont have one or its not installed correctly.
