Hi all

Just wondering if someone could help me out with a few 'simple' labelling of words, i'm debating which way is correct.

E.g. James won at tennis

James is the subject

Tennis is the subject

What is 'won at'? (I know won is the verb, however I have to label all words?

Thanks in advance

Hmm, actually I'd say the 'at' belongs with 'tennis' rather than with 'won'. So 'James' would be the subject, 'won' the main verb and 'at tennis' the complement to 'won'.
Or if it's word categories you need, 'James' and 'tennis' are nouns, 'won' is a verb and 'at' is a preposition.
