My friend goes to Buckingham as we live close by. She seems pleased by course content etc. I would say take a look around, visit on an open day (obviously can't right now), get a feel for the place, look into whether you can actually afford the higher course prices. It all depends on personal opinion and financial situation

Is where the uni is located a nice place to live?

Buckingham itself is fairly quiet but does have a little village centre. There's not a lot there, it's basically little niche shops & boutiques. There are good transport links however - to other towns and cities nearby - such as Milton Keynes

The University of Buckingham is in the town of Buckingham. It's one of the five private universities in the country and has around 3000 students. The town centre is an easy walk from the university buildings (10 mins or so).

It has a Boots; a Waitrose; a Tesco (Express?); half a dozen charity shops; etc.

What are you looking for from it?

It's equidistant to Milton Keynes or Bicester Retail Village (Outlet).

In terms of the University - hmm. The current VC is stepping down on 1 October and the Uni is currently being investigated by the Charity Commission for financial and governance issues.
In a recent article in The Sunday Times - some suggest the VC jumped before he was pushed - as rumours of a Vote of No Confidence in him were circulating.
