CertHE Or MBBS

I recently received an offer from University of Buckingham for the Pre-med program but 2-3 days after paying the deposit for the Pre-med program I received an offer for direct MBBS in Saudi Arabia in Al Faisal university which is globally recognised. I’m unsure what I should do and if I were to ask for a deposit for the university of Buckingham will they actually refund the amount?

If it's a non-refundable deposit, you probably won't get it back.

If your goal is to pursue a career in medicine and you can afford the fees of the MBBS programme you've gotten into it (and there aren't any concerns with recognition by the GMC if you also want to practice medicine in the UK) then that might be the better option.

That said, knowing Buckingham is a private medical course in the UK, you could always tell them you have an offer for a full MBBS elsewhere when asking after the deposit for the CertHE. Maybe they'll find a place for you on their main MBBS if faced with losing the tuition fees from the CertHE offer...although that would really be a damning indictment of their business model I think if it did happen.

Alright thanks a lot 😁

If you're happy to live in Saudi Arabia I would just take the offer.

Ive considered applying for both Al Faisal and Al Saud unis. However, because ive done my undergrad in the uk (and have a 2:2 classification), they told me in order to persue studying with them i'd have to be accepted for at least the 1st year of a uk medical school before transferring to them in the 2nd year. Also buckingham has no refund policy therefore i'd suggest you finish your first year in buckingham before transferring to any medical schools in Saudi.

Can I ask how you managed to secure a seat for the MBBS degree program at the Al Faisal uni when Buckingham only accepted you for the CertHE degree?
