Hey @eternaldevotiioni
I am a current 3rd year Biological Science student from the University of Leicester, I thought I'd help you out since I've studied here for the past 3 years.
Some great things that I appreciate about the university:
Course- I'm really enjoying my course, its a mixture of lectures, tutorials (STEM versions of seminars) and practical's. The course structure and time table allows you to have a good work-life balance. There is a lot of time to have independent study which is expected from every student. One thing is really appreciated is that all lectures are recorded so if you do miss one for any reason, there's no need to panic as you can go back in your own time to watch it back.
Student Life- Campus life is really great, lots to do, My favourite place is the Percy gee building which houses the Student Union. it holds many cafes and food outlets. A personal preference is the Starbucks and the Caribbean food stalls. this is also where over 200 societies are held, from sports to cultural and religious, creative, dance and many more. You also have the option to start your very own society if you wish to do so. I joined a gospel choir.
Student Services- There is lots of support available for students if you require from financial aids, to careers services and academic help. Every student is assigned a Personal Tutor in their first year who you can choose to meet anytime you want, they are usually a professor within your department so can offer lots of academic help among other things
Social life- The many societies to help you socialise with like minded people with the same interests as you, Events are run regularly on and off campus so you have the chance to meet loads of people in first year. We have our very own 02 Academy which artists come to perform. Example - Grammy award winning artist Burna Boy, Mahalia and Catfish and the bottlemen
Leicester City- I love this city, its so diverse so you meet people from all over the world, I've made friends from Finland, Nigeria, China, India, Ghana, just to name a few. In terms of food and nightlife, there are plenty of restaurants with cuisines from all over which I appreciate. Nightlife is great , there is something for everyone (literally), It's also quite a cheap city compared to other places so that's great for student life.
I hope this helps, Good luck making your decision, I would advice going to open days to both Universities if possible, this usually helps in the decision making process.
