Poll

Are you considering becoming a barrister

Hello!

This page is to help those thinking/applying for the GDL Scholarships students 2022.

What are the GDL Scholarships?
The GDL scholarships is an award given to prospective GDL students from one of the four Inns of Courts to fund their studies for students aspiring to be barristers.

GDL/PGDL course (conversion course for non-law graduates)
The GDL is a postgraduate course, offered to non-law graduates to help them become lawyers.

The Inns of Courts
The Inns of Courts are ancient institutions, that have helped in the training of barristers for centuries. Over time there have adopted more roles to aid current barristers and aspiring barristers through funds, scholarships and advice meetings.

There are four Inns
Gray's Inn
Lincoln's Inn
Middle Temple
Inner Temple

Choosing an inn is an important decision. Once a person has joined an inn, you have joined for life! (It is extremely rare to change inns !!-choose wisely!!)

When applying for the GDL scholarship you must select only ONE Inn to apply. (You do not have to join an inn to get a scholarship, but once approved for a scholarship you must join the inn to obtain the scholarship.)

Although each inn has its own set criteria for the scholarship, they all cover similar points.
