I want to apply for masters in Sociology/Media and I want to know what is my current chances of getting into Oxbridge/LSE for masters and would like to ask for any casual advice on improving my chances before applying other than perfecting the statement of purpose and academic references.
I'm currently in my second-year Criminology at one of the Russell Group unis and soon be doing my placement year in the recruitment/media sector. I also have experience in student media and am actively involved in publicity and other leadership roles in uni societies. I want to specialise in digital culture/sociology of media in the future so I did a research project based on that and will be doing my UG dissertation on similar topics. I did a summer course at LSE so I don't know whether that could strengthen the academic CV/overall application. My grade is mid 2:1 in the first year but improved to a high 2:1 in the second year and will be aiming for a first hon overall but I am worried that I will get rejected despite the requirement asks for a strong 2:1 only just because I know they are very competitive unis.
These are the courses I want to apply for postgrad:
MPhil Sociology (Media and Culture) - Cambridge
MSc Media and Communications (Research) - LSE
MSc Politics and Communication - LSE (still deciding between both LSE courses)
Thank you so much for helping this clueless second year student ;-;
