Hi Aceful,

It is great to hear you have applied at DMU!! Good luck on your application, we hope to see you begin your studies in 2023!

I am a Psychology Student however I really enjoy using technology, photography and the outdoors too! There are some very nice photo opportunities around campus, some of the buildings are historical and are very nice to take pictures off! Also around Leicester there are some nice parks which you can go to explore , I recommend Abbey Park if you want to practice your photography skills!

Even better, castle gardens is next to DMU and there are good photo opportunities there too, I have took loads of photo's there and it is lovely in the spring and summer time to walk around. There is also Leicester Castle which is situated next to campus on Castle View Street.

DMU also has many facilities for technology! The library has PC's and Mac's you can use! There are also over 3,000 desktop computers in the Kimberlin Library. There is also access to many different software's and I am pretty sure you will learn about which ones will be best for you on your Computer Science Course. There are also labs you can use which are dedicated for Mac and Linux Programs.

Hopefully you will be successful with your application and I wish you all the best! DMU is a great place to study after all!

Thank you, I have received my conditional offer. Do DMU do offer holder days or is it only open days?

Hi Aceful,

Thank you for replying and congratulations on your conditional offer, that is brilliant news!

So currently DMU offers only open days which is where you get the chance to go to subject talks so in your case it would be Computer Science. You will also get the chance to go to taster sessions depending on what activities are going on throughout the day!! Our open days allow anyone to become familiar with what DMU is like and to make sure DMU is the right place for them!

We have upcoming Open Days in January and February. https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate-study/open-days/open-days.aspx? gclid=CjwKCAiAnZCdBhBmEiwA8nDQxU8th7u_29FfcK3i5rZZsPhQ5Ojtl1jIFtJVw69IuNOQ30yL3ctHDxoCwOcQAvD_BwE You will find some more information here!

So again well done on receiving your Conditional Offer and we hope to see you at DMU in 2023! Have a nice Christmas and New Year!!

Hi,

This is wonderful news that it is your dream to study at De Montfort University and that it has been your dream since secondary school and what excellent grades that you have been predicted at!!

I am a third year Psychology Student and I absolutely enjoy studying at DMU. Like you have said the facilities that the uni offer are so wonderful and its one of my favourite things about the University in general.

Also you are very correct, DMU campus has a very safe and enjoyable vibe! You can study but also make the most of your University experience by having fun, socialising with friends and also meeting new people! One of the things that made me choose DMU is the campus because I just felt like it was where I would belong and it had a very pleasing atmosphere!

Personally my favourite facility is the Library because this is where I spend most of my time studying, there are many different study areas in the Library whether you want to study in silence or study with friends, you won't be stuck for somewhere to do your work! Whats even better about the library is that DMU offers academic support, so you can get help with academic writing, time management, problem solving skills etc. Here is the library website if you are interested! DMU Library.

Also since you wish to study Law you might be interested to know that we actually have a Law Library on campus and here is the information you might need if you are successful and come start with us in September! DMU Law Library.

If you wish to book on an open day for DMU just to remind yourself why it has always been your dream then this is the website for you! DMU Open Days

I wish you all the best with your application and we hope to welcome you at DMU in September.

I had travelled to Leicester for the DMU open day and I had enjoyed every moment of it. The campus and its facilities were excellent alongside the friendly and helpful students. I can definitely see myself there as a student in September. :u:

Hi Aceful,

Sorry for the long wait for a reply! I do apologise.

This is absolutely wonderful to hear, we always want students to have the best time at Open Days so it is amazing that you enjoyed it!

I have to agree with you the campus and the facilities DMU provides are excellent!! I would love to know what your favourite part of the campus was and also feel free to let me know what the best part of your day was!

I am glad that you found the student ambassador's friendly and helpful, I am one myself so you might of seen me around  I actually was on the student panel at the opening talk if you attended that!

We really hope to welcome you at De Montfort University! I wish you the best of luck with your Conditional Offer!

I had applied Diagnostic Radiography in De Montfort university for 2023 entery. I am a mature student (am 35) I had BA (H) 2:1 in business studies and I am currently studying lever 3 access course in science at college now.

I had received an alternative course offer from De Montfort university for a course which I have not applied, expressed an interest in my personal statement and had no skills at all. In the offer email it says Diagnostic Radiography is popular and competitive. I am just confused and started to read in between the lines what it could mean when I already had a 2:1 degree; I understand that it is in completely different course but as I said I am currently studying access course in science. I am just curious whether it is my age that is taken in consideration as I am 35 and May be the Diagnostic Radiography is popular among young students fresh from A levels. And shockingly, the alternative course email says my skills will feet well in the alternative course they had offered me where i really haven't mentioned any skills related to alternative offered course in my personal statement.

Hi I also applied for this course and got an alternative course medical science that I am not interested in. What I don't understand is that the entry requirements for this course are lower than my grades and they haven't given me a reason as to why I didn't get accepted for the course I applied for. I do a levels biology, psychology and health and social care. I was also thinking perhaps its because I do 2 a levels and a BTEC but I'm not too sure.

Hi there! Hope you are doing okay.

I am really sorry to see that you have not received an offer for your preferred course.

Diagnostic Radiography is an extremely competitive course with limited number of spaces of available on the course. The entry criteria are rigid for the course and you will require to meet all the criteria in order to be accepted on to the course. We do accept mature students as they bring a lot of experience and background knowledge with them and we certainly do discriminate on the basis of age. I am not sure which course you were cross-offered to, but rest assured our the academic team within admissions team would have carefully assessed your skill set in order to provide you an offer for an alternative course depending on our previous qualifications, work experience, etc.

However, I would definitely advice getting in touch with our admissions team so that they can provide you feedback regarding your application and an explanation for providing offer for an alternative course. Their contact details are: [email protected]/01162078443.

I hope this helps, however, if you have any further queries, kindly do not hesitate to message us back and we will be happy to assist you. :h:

Thanks!

Hi there @j.rai ! First off, congratulations on your offer!:elefant:

Definitely making friends is usually high up on the list after you've accepted an offer, but rest assured, there is plenty of time!
You can chat to our current students via The Ambassador Platform on our website (second link linked below) and find out more about their experience on how they made friends, the best first steps, and also what's on offer at DMU outside of your studies.:yep:

Our NEW DMU Community (we are super excited about this one) also gives the opportunity for Offer Holders, such as yourself, to connect with each other and Faculty staff regarding your specific course. You can also see links to our social media channels and connect with other offer holders that you might be on the course with in the not so distant future! :tee:
