Medicine- preparing for the UCAT

What are the best resources to study for the UCAT? I am currently doing Medify, but have seen several people recommend the 1250 UCAT text book. Any suggestions?

Hi, I got the book last yr for my ucat but it wasn't the best... practising online is better to get used to the real thing. More than enough questions online so you don't need the book. I think if you're looking to spend money, rather than buying the book, buy a question bank like medify or medentry (doesn't matter which one, both are good). You only need to buy 1 of those as it will give more than enough questions (at least medify did). Then use free resources like passmedicine and the official UCAT website questions.
(I only started prep in June tho and my test was end of July - this was enough time for me personally.)
Hope this helps, best of luck.

The poster before me has given some good advice. All i would say is dont start too soon. Esp if you are thinking of doing a later UCAT slot.

Burnout seems to be a very real thing reading the UCAT thread from last year.

I have the book as well, its good practice but not like the real thing so I wouldn't waste time getting it. As some people have already said, you would benefit from using medify or medentry. I used medify and found the AR and SJT to be just like the real thing, but the DM and QR were harder in the real thing. My friend used medentry and found the DM to be harder on that than the real thing. Personally, I would use medify because its really good, it tracks your progress and has MANY timed practice opportunities. Also I completely agree with not overburning yourself, 4 weeks is plenty of time to prepare, you dont want to be starting now and running out of practice and frankly losing your patience and motivation closer to the time
I'd recommend looking into a few of the options. I know that they can be quite pricey but the UCAT ninja, which has loads of video tutorials and a MASSIVE question bank, you can get for whatever price you wish to pay - even just 1/2 pounds, which is pretty cool. I also agree with the above - practicing online is FAR better - practice those keyboard tricks!!

Hope that helps and try not to feel too de-motivated about a gap year, it is hard, but you have got this and I hope all goes well with re-applying!

Hi there! First of all, figure out a plan based off when your UCAT is. Then realistically, would you find the 1250 UCAT text book useful?
Regardless of what you get, make sure you track what you are doing, identifying weak areas, and working on them. Keep track of your progress so you can see your improvement over time. UCAT Ninja is also useful
Essentially, find what style of learning works best for you!

Best of luck!

From my experience, I didn't find the book that useful as it was less time efficient when comapred to the online question banks that are available. The book is a good starting point for getting familiar with the UCAT but apart from that, make use of Medify and other question banks such as UCAT ninja, use the official UCAT mocks closer to the time of your exam and spend around 1.5-2 months preparing, tapering the amount of time spent revising up towards the exam so that you don't burn out studying for too long for the UCAT
