It's great to hear that you are interested in our Pharmacy programme here at DMU. You might find this thread of interest regarding the MPharm programme and how it is to come and study with us!
As part of our investment in teaching Health and Life Sciences, and Pharmacy in particular, we have new simulation suites to allow for state-of-the-art experiential learning and assessment. LearningSpace® technology has been installed in 31 rooms both in our Portland building and in our Hawthorn Building (which is a beautiful original building of the University ) along with enhanced AV equipment; which allows our students to experience reflective learning through the use of audio and video technology in a simulated clinical environment. New patient simulators, diagnostic and monitoring equipment ensure that students are able to learn clinical assessment skills, diagnosis and treatment of patients of all ages and simulated clinical conditions. This will be great experience and essential support once you progress to your placement blocks for the programme!
Here at DMU, with a rich history of teaching vocational skills and increasing employability of students, we have great connections with the NHS and the trust's hospitals across Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and the wider East Midlands. Our Pharmacy programme, accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), offers these placements for students to gain experience in community pharmacies, hospitals and the primary care sector, including GP practices
For more information on the previous placements offered, as part of our HLS Faculty, then you can of course get in touch with the team here!
