Studying an Engineering Access to HE course after gap year.

I am currently Studying an Engineering Access to Higher Education course, i saw it as an alternative to a foundation year but now see that it doesn't quite open as many doors. Has anyone else taken this route?

Sidenote: I started my Gap year in summer 2021. i do have a-levels but didn't study subjects complementary to engineering.
