gap year 2024-25

Hi I'm in year 13 and i'm taking a gap year after a levels and want to go travelling at some point during the year. all my friends are going to uni - anyone interested in travelling too or have any plans?

I’m not sure yet but I’ve been thinking of interailling for a week+ or backpacking with a trusted company . Wbu?

I really want to interrail!! Id love to interrail for like 3/4 weeks and go to germany, italy austria exc. I was thinking of maybe doing volunteering trip in january/february aswell. I found a place in south africa on workaway where you can work at a hostel in exchange for accomodation and food which looks really good

Hi there,

There are so many advantages to taking a gap year in any capacity. You get to gain real world experience, meet new people, find your passion, see the world, the list goes on. So it's great you're considering this as an option.

I think it'd be wise to do a bit of research, as there are companies that specialise in gap years which can help you with what you want to do on your year out. If travelling is your main reason for a gap year have a look at 'Camp America'. I know many people who have had an amazing time in America doing that! There will be other companies that do similar things too.

There's also companies that help you with working during your gap year too when you finish your travelling that you can research.
