The Student Room Group

Isolation discipline

We have a discipline rules in school which outlined to be c points. c5 is exclusion and c1 is basically nothing but a warning. I have got a c4 which is isolated in a room with other few student for a day in school, because I was talking to a teacher in an inappropriate fashion, and we do have an account of showing how many positive points and negative points you have got, mine was recorded in year 9 but then I have become a better student right after then, but I was still really worried that this record will still affects me when it comes to making applications to top universities or my grade, will this affects my future to Oxbridge?
Ah the fabled "permanent record".

The only way a university would be aware of any such matters would be if your academic referee specifically noted it in their reference. Which unless it was extremely serious (e.g. you threatened to assault or kill a member of staff, or sexually assaulted them or something), it wouldn't be included in the vast majority of cases to my knowledge.

Thank you for your response, I’ve been my best behaviour and due to my rebellious behaviour when I was younger caused me to received this punishment, I really hope this wouldn’t affect me that much when it comes to future, and one more question, are you sure the only way it appears is by the teacher reference? Because we have a whole account for positive point and negative point record down?

I assure you, university admissions staff could not care one jot about whether you got a demerit in year 8 for example! It's purely for the benefit of the school...has no bearing on university admissions
