Can I leave an artist copy unfinished if its taking too long?

I do btec art and my coursework is due in tomorrow, I've finished everything but an artist copy I've been working on for weeks of Hayao Miyazaki (I'm doing spirit of the place) because it's really complicated, if everything else is finished but i put a note saying i didnt finish it because it was taking a mental amount of time will I be marked down too bad? I wanted to get some revision for other subjects in today and I wont be able to if i finish it

If you're doing an artist pastiche/study the main goal isn't to create something gorgeous, it's to learn and gain from it. What about Miyazaki's work are you trying to bring forward into your own? Have you looked at and achieved an understanding of that? Remember, while you are jumping through hoops to complete assignments for the course, the assignments also have a purpose.
