I don’t get why for part a they do 10gsintheta is equal to friction. Don’t those 2 forces act in same direction so you add? My diagram is on whiteboard and to me they’re going in same directionIMG_2479.jpegIMG_2480.jpeg

For part a) weight or gravity is acting down the plane so friction must act up the plane as its in equilibrium/opposing motion. There is no P in part a) so weight and friction must be equal and opposite forces.

In b) as P is acting up the plane and is maximal, then friction must be opposing motion and now acting down the plane.
