is this a bad thing?

i have choosen economics but found out that it is maths based and want to change it to sociology, for sixth form but i havent chosen this option in yr11
i'm hoping to get into sixth form but im not sure if i'll be able to do this subject

Sociology to my understanding does not have any specific entry requirements at A Level. Even should you be completely unprepared, you can often do a sociology degree with A Levels in any random subjects so long you get the right grades.
I personally would not do sociology as an A Level (it's less academic), but if you are confident that you would get a higher grade in it then do so.

If you are really unsure, check the entry requirements for Sociology A Level at your chosen college. See the entry requirements for the following for example:

It's generally the more academic subjects that would require you to have certain grades in specific subjects at GCSE (at least for college applications, not so much for the A Level via the exam board) e.g. maths, the sciences, languages...
