When is the right time to ask the professor to be our thesis supervisor?
What course, MSc or PhD etc ? For a masters there is typically a course schedule, there may be a pre agreed list of projects or a set date you should start contacting potential supervisors. There is no one size fits all.
Mine is MRes and we will have a dissertation module during Spring and summer teaching. However, the supervisor that I am interested in is quite famous, hence I wonder whether I should build my rapport earlier so I could get a higher chance to be chosen or smt.
Im an international student and it is a norm in my country to build rapport first etc., but I dont know how it is like in the UK (hence the question).
