Mental health support at UCLan

Hi,

A family member of mine is coming to study at UCLan in September. They worked really hard to get into their course (vetinary medicine) but are worried about mental health/anxiety (which they experienced at school).

We all really want to support them and want to know what it’s like from a students perspective, what sort of support is available and what’s it like?

Firstly congratulations to your family member who is joining us in September! ✨

There is plenty of support available for students at UCLan and we have been ranked third in the UK for the mental health support we offer students (University Mental Health League Table, June 2022).

However, let's get into the practical stuff, all students have access to:

🗣️Daily drop-in, no appointment needed
💗Free counselling service
🥰Wellebing workshops
🧍Access to Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisors
➡️Signposting and referrals to specialist external services
✏️Student Wellbeing Toolkit
🛐Oasis Faith and Spirituality Centre
💪Free gym membership

BUT that's not all. Veterinary medicine students also have access to a specialist package of general mental wellbeing support. This is aimed at improving your professional skills to help with motivation.
