Is there any point in applying to unis with higher grades needed

I want to study engineering at unis that want A*AA and I am predicted AAA should I bother applying
Highly depends on the unis, at the very competitive ones you basically have no chance if you don't meet the requirements.
Sometimes they consider applicants with 1 grade. I wouldn’t have all 5 of your applications as stretch universities but you can add 1 and see what happens

Do check their admissions requirements as some say they interview below the entrance requirements

Be aware tho, if you do get an offer, it will likely be for A*AA
Depends somewhat on the unis. Having one or two aspirational options a grade above your predicteds is not unusual and usually reasonable, although I might not suggest Oxbridge or maybe Imperial either for that. But most other unis probably fine (and I mean if you really want to try for one of those, having one option as one of those isn't the worst thing, just don't peg your hopes and dreams to it - and I wouldn't suggest applying to both Oxbridge and Imperial and other courses above your predicted grades if you do so).
