Take a Gap year - Dentistry applicant

Hi, can anyone explain to me the precise process / timeline of taking a gap year ?

I know that I can apply to dentistry with my actual A level results if I have been successful, when will they ask for interviews is it after I done my gap year or during?
When I put my UCAS through, do I request for a deffered entry? is this how gap year works
Please give suggestions ...

Many thanks in advance

Its the same as if you were going to school. So say your results day is sometime august. Your gap year has started. You will complete and submit ur application by the deadline which is usually october/november. You get interviews around Dec-May depends on the uni. And offers around March to May depends on Uni.
