Would studying Alevel Maths Chem, bio and psychology take too much time?

I would like to study these at Alevel as I plan to get into medicine. I know I could take bio chem and psy without maths but I want to study biotechnology which I think I need maths for but I have a job that I work 12 hours a week in . I'm wondering if the workload would be too much but I really enjoy the sciences and psychology in my opinion is very easy if u dedicate enough time to memorize it same with bio. But I'm still not sure going through with all 4 will be okay

Maths and Physics would be a recommended and safer A-level as a 3rd option but it’s completely down to you.
As someone currently doing 4 A-levels and wanting to study medicine, it is a lot of workload and it gets really tough. Doing 4 A-levels is not for the weak minded 😅.
Psychology is a good 3rd option. My friend does the same A-levels and she finds that there is a lot of crossover between biology and psychology which makes it easier for her. I would suggest you stick with just those 3.
If you really want to do maths then you can always drop it at a later point but I don’t think it’s necessary.

As much as I hate to say it, you don't need maths or psychology to study or work in either biotech or medicine.

I will presume you know what the entry requirements are for medicine.

For biotech work:

https://www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles/biotechnologist

If you're specifically looking at the degrees, see the following as examples:
https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/2023/08662/bsc-biotechnology/entry-requirements/#course-profile
https://www.imperial.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduate/biotechnology/
https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/studywithus/ugstudy/courses/UG/Biotechnology-BSc-Hons-U6UBTECH.html
https://www.york.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/bsc-biotechnology/#entry
https://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/undergraduate/degrees/index.php?action=view&code=J700
https://www.edgehill.ac.uk/course/biotechnology/
https://uel.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/bsc-hons-biochemistry-biotechnology

So, in other words, biology and chemistry alone would pretty much get you into most of the degrees or courses that you would need to get into biotech or medicine.
The only time I would consider maths being essential is if you want to do a degree in chemical engineering or biomedical engineering. If you intend to do biomedical engineering, some universities might be picky about whether you have physics, but some would accept you with maths and biology or chemistry.

12 hours with 4 A Levels is OK, but you won't have a lot of free time after that. If you need to drop anything, I would drop psychology.

Hi @Sigmakernal

It’s great that you’re considering now what subjects to do at A Level.

(Thank you @MindMax2000 for the mention)

It’s a good idea to consider what Universities are requiring from applicants that wish to study Biotechnology.

For example, as mentioned above we offer BSc (Hons) Biochemistry and Biotechnology at UEL, and we require applicants to have 112 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification. For example, as you are studying A Levels, we require A Levels in at least two subjects including Grade B in Biology or Chemistry.

https://uel.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/bsc-hons-biochemistry-biotechnology

So, we will be looking for either one of these subjects.

Having a look at what Universities require will be a good place to start when considering what subjects would be necessary to study for A Level.
