A-level English literature coursework

Has anyone done or considered doing any of the Game of Thrones books for their coursework? My teacher mentioned it in our coursework introduction lesson last week and I was shocked because it's not a major literary book/series?

I've watched the whole tv show and read all the books + know a lot of context about it as I'm a major fan, just wondering because it will be a breeze for me if we are actually allowed to do it for coursework meaning I would just need to read one book this summer.
