Accountancy career progression
I am starting a graduate job in internal audit and studying for the ICAS qualification. I don't have a background in business or economics (I studied English and Politics at University) but what drew me to this sector was the opportunities to work in the public sector and government bodies. As I am new to accountancy, I know that the qualification will take a minimum of three years to complete, but I am interested to know what my career progression will look like in terms of working for local councils, public sector etc. i.e. how can I become more specialised within this area of work? Thanks!
