Student ID Cards at Kingston University

Student ID Cards are a small but important feature of your time at university not just do they instantly unlock hundreds of student discounts in your local area, but they’re also necessary for checking into your lectures and examinations, gaining access to some parts of the campus, and at Kingston, can even help speed up the printing/photocopying process. So when you arrive at Kingston University, you’ll admittedly want to get your hands on one as soon as possible.

Whilst all students have access to a digital copy of their ID on the KU app, if you’re a new student, instructions on how to print a physical copy will be sent to you via email once you’ve completed enrolment. This process usually involves booking a 15-minute or so slot at one of Kingston’s campuses, where a staff member will help print and collect your ID but try and give yourself slightly more time if possible, as there will be lots of new IDs to give out on the first few days of the new term and it might take slightly longer than expected!

(Top tip! When you get your ID Card, it’ll usually be attached to a KU lanyard - and whilst it can seem like a bit of a hassle at times, keeping it on the lanyard makes you a lot less likely to lose or misplace it at least in me and my friends’ experience!)

However, if you are a returning student who has either lost or damaged their ID Card over the summer, you can request a new one through the MyKingston website under the University subheading. Requests take roughly 2 working days to process, with ID Cards then available to be collected at any campus Information Centre.

Whilst it's best to always have it on hand, don't panic if you lose your ID once or twice - as a student it's probably more uncommon not to!
