Top Places to Pick Up Art Supplies as a Kingston University Student

Whether you're a Kingston School of Art student or a STEM/Humanities student with a love of art, we all know that sourcing affordable art supplies at university can be a hassle. Here's a list of some of the top places in Kingston-upon-Thames to pick up anything you might need to complete your creative projects.

KSA Art Shop, Knight's Park Campus
If you're looking for the best local deals on paint, paper or any other art/craft material you might need, the KSA Art Shop is the place to go! Located in the reception area of KU's Knight's Park Campus, the KSA Art Shop has dozens of supplies at knocked-down, student prices, and is run by knowledgeable KSA staff who can always help you find the right product for whatever project you're trying to complete. If you're not sure what's in stock, make sure to check the catalogue on the reception desk, which will give you both the prices and a few more details about each of the products.

Pullinger's, Fife Rd.
With a 10% student discount, Pullinger's is another great option only a few metres away from The Bentall Centre. Personally, I always head in here to pick up coloured paper/card as I find it has one of the most varied selections at an affordable price - but it's also fantastic for paint, brushes, screen printing and drawing materials! What I love most about Pullinger's is that you're usually able to pick up most products individually - e.g. one pencil or marker in a certain colour - instead of having to commit to buying a full set. It makes things a lot more affordable as a student, especially when you have an assignment to finish and your student loan is a bit tight.

Cass Art, Clarence St.
Although a bit pricey at times, Cass Art has some of the best quality materials in Kingston with a 10% student discount and several student sales/offers throughout the year. Whatever you need, Cass Art probably has - whether that's coloured washi tape, a certain GSM of paper or a massive canvas. Usually if I'm buying something in Cass Art, I try to buy in bulk during the sales - for example, instead of repeatedly buying 300ml bottles of acrylic gesso every two weeks, I might buy 2 litres for a slightly higher initial cost but a long-term saving. Cass Art also has a lot of unique, specialist products, so make sure to have a look around the store and see what's on offer.

As always, if you have any questions, just drop them down below and one of our KU Reps will get back to you as soon as possible.
