Access to HE or re-sit A levels?

If the worst happens on A level results day and clearing doesn't work out, would you recommend doing an access to HE course or re-sitting the A levels?

I've looked into access to HE courses and I think you have to be 19 with no A Levels - is this correct? or can you apply if you're still 18 in Sep but don't have the A levels required to get on the uni course you want to?

Asking for a friend.... who wants to do physiotherapy but didn't get any offers, they have an offer for podiatry but still maybe won't get the grades for the conditional offer (BBC) . Can they take a year do the access course get more work experience then apply again for 2024?

An Access diploma isn't likely to be the best option for someone who has attempted A levels. They're designed to take people from GCSE level to the end of A levels in a year.

Resitting will usually be a better option unless your friend thinks they chose the wrong subject? If that's the case then taking a different L3 qualification might be a better option.
