Deadline to start a new UCAS application

If you have went through the 2023 UCAS application cycle but decide not to go through on your offer, what date do you have until to inform UCAS that you wish to go into the 2024 cycle as part of a gap year?

Are you planning to defer your firm choice to 2024 entry or would you want to reapply for 5 choices for 2024 entry?

Deferring doesn’t seem to be an option so it would have to be an entirely new application.
Just out of curiosity however what would be the deadline in both circumstances?

The equal consideration deadline for 2024 entry is 31 January 2024

Your referee may have earlier deadlines for you to request your reference in order to meet that deadline

I think they’re axing references this year are they not?

Nope
They're just changing the input boxes for them https://www.ucas.com/advisers/writing-references/changes-undergraduate-references-2024-entry

They'll still be expected for the vast majority of applications
