Pursuing psychology in LSE

Hi there! I am really interested in pursuing psychology in LSE. My A-Level subjects consist of English Literature, History and Psychology.

If I were to continue with these subjects provided that I have good grades, would I have a good chance in getting a place in LSE? I recognise that I'm not doing any STEM related subjects (other than Psychology) which makes me a bit worried that it would reduce my chances of getting in. I'm also kiiiind of thinking of changing History to either Economics or Chemistry.

LSE say: "A-levels*
"A*AA, including at least one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Psychology
We consider your AS grades, if available."

You clearly can apply, but LSE would prefer another subject from one of Maths, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

Why did you not research your Psychology degree course entry requirements before choosing English Literature and History? :s-smilie:

Are you just starting Year 12? If so, change to Maths or Biology or even Chemistry.

Biology is probably a more useful background than chemistry. That said LSE are a social science specialist uni and you in principle meet the requirements I believe so, you may well be fine as is. But in general worth bearing in mind that any BPS accredited psychology course will include a certain amount of scientific and statistical content due to the BPS accreditation requirements (and some unis a lot more besides - places like KCL, UCL, Oxford and Cambridge are all very scientifically oriented). So consider your strengths and interests and if this necessarily aligns with a psychology degree; as it may be there are other courses which cover the areas you're interested in but from a perspective that plays to your strengths better, if you aren't especially keen on the sciences otherwise
