Take as many opportunities as you can ie: start a club, volunteer, take part in olympiads + competitions also fulbright is good to sign up for

Try to get research/internship/work experience as these will stand you apart

Form close bonds with your teachers as they will be writing letters for you
•
You need to build a portfolio of things that give you a "spike" which is described as a specific strength
•
Don't stress too much as getting into ivy leagues is a great aspiration to have but they are especially hard to get into as an international student (I'm pretty sure less than 10 applicants are selected from the UK for most classes). Plus quite a few UK universities are just as prestigious
