Will my GCSE English hold me back?
Hi,
I’ve just applied to study English at uni with predicted A*. However I feel that my seven in GCSE may hold me back even though I have done a lot to make up for it - eg writing articles for publications. I am also predicted A*A in my other subjects.
Will this hold me back at say Edinburgh or Durham?
my other GCSEs were pretty good.

No it wont. Universities dont expect a grade 7. They mostly go on A level grades.
Universities mostly go on A-level grades. They do not necessarily care what you got in your GCSEs. Regardless of the situation, I would apply. The only way to be sure of not getting in is to not apply at all.
