Unable to get funds

My daughter applied for her loan (maintenance and tuition) in August, and initially was told to expect her first payment in september (this never came).
After chasing up the lack on funds, she was told her application was still in review (even though they confirmed there was no reason for it to still be in review).
After back and forth on the phone, she was told via a letter that she would get a payment at the end of december, this payment never came.

Her University is now chasing her for the tuition fees, as they also have not received funds.

She has been left with no money, the course fees in arrears and told she needs to reapply as they now state that her application may have been for 2022 (the year which ended prior to her application, which it wasn't !!!)

How can she resolve this without reapplying and expedite a resolution, as that will be another 1-2 months of her having no funds?

Hi there,
When did her course start this year? Is she continuing on the same course and university as last year? Has her application been approved and payments scheduled? Thanks, Ross

Hi there. Has someone confirmed she has made a 22/23 application?

If she has applied on a 22/23 application by accident, then she will need to make a new one for 23/24. There is no way around this, unfortunately.

She would be best speaking to the university regarding the situation with the Tuition Fees.

Thanks, Leah

Hi,

It was confirmed originally, over the phone (in september) that her application was correct just not progessed for some reason. it's only yesterday that they have stated it was now the incorrect year (which not sure how you can apply to a course as a 1st year for a year that has concluded).

She has notified the University, but she is understandibly stressed about this. Plus struggling to live away from home now, due to the promises of funds which then never appear.

Hi there,

I can understand the students frustration however if the wrong application has been submitted we will need the correct one submitted so we can process the application.

Thanks, Drew

Hi,

I see, apologies for bothering you, looking through the communications the application changed from 2023/2024. when it got processed as initial emails confirmed it as 2023/2024 and then after evidence submitted it stated 2022/2023. This is not something we picked up on as we believed the application would have stayed as it was, as submitting evidence shouldn't have changed the details.

As a further note she is unable to cancel this application, in order to apply again as a first year. How would she go about getting this cancelled as time is now as priority to avoid being kicked from the university and accommodation.

Hi there,

If you need the application cancelled quickly then I would advise the student to call us so we can send a task to have the application cancelled. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm.

Thanks, Drew
