Make sure you attempt every question and read the question carefully.
For maths make sure you check for mistakes at the end. Also, make sure you calculator is in the correct setting as this will affect the answers it gives you.
For English try to fully analyse and not move on too quickly. For the language papers read the texts you are given carefully. Also, we were always told to go down the inference tunnel. For example,
The cat and dog have their eyes closed;
from this we can infer that they are asleep;
from this we can infer that they are comfortable with each other;
from this we can infer that they are friends
