RG is totally irrelevant for Engineering - you need to have hands-on experience as well as theoretical. Please don't believe that Engineers just do theory - they don't.
Oxford Brookes is very succesful [as is Bath] at Formula Student - you actually have to design and build a car.

I'm very well aware of that.

You mean by the fact that they are not a RG uni, yet they do much more than Manchester overall in Mech Eng?

Btw, another topic: would general engineering (Sheffield) be better than Mech Eng, by what my interests for specialising are: systems/automation/contol/mechatronics/design and computation, still with some topics in Mech Eng?

Yes - I'd suggest Manchester for some degrees but not Engineering.

You need to look at the modules in those two courses and see what choices you get. This is the sort of question to explore at an Offer holder's day.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the heads up. I was in Loughborough last Wednesday for my interview day with Wolfson School. My parents and I were impressed with the day's schedule: beyond other unis' offer-holders day!
Plus, my interview turned out to be very easy and the engineering facilities are great. However, I have two concerns, if you could get these answered:
(1) What do you learn in MechEng systems engineering modules?
(2) And what about in the MechEng mechatronics/robotics modules?
I hope those can be answered by anyone best concerned. Thanks in advance.
Aqil
Hi @Aquil Azhar ,

I am glad to hear you were impressed.

Unfortunately I don't study engineering so don't know detail about the modules. What I would recommend you do is ask any course related questions you have to the Wolfson school admissions team: [email protected]
They will be able to give more detail on the course which may help with you decision making 🙂

I hope that helps.

Alex
