Accommodation

I have a question about accommodation at any university, so can the accommodation be paid for out of our maintenance loan or would we have to find a part time job to keep up with payments? The prices of my accommodation choices are around £200 a week and I am unsure if maintenance will cover this? What happens if we can't find work and are unable to pay? I will be moving over 300 miles away from home so it isn't possible to stay at home.

You can spend your maintenance loan however you want but usually you would use it to pay for accommodation, food, travel, socialising, etc. You need to work out a budget to see how much you can afford for accommodation. For most student accommodation contracts, lump sum payments are expected at the start of each term (usually around the time you maintenance loan is paid to you). Look for the best value accommodation you can - check if privately run halls are any cheaper (eg Student Roost, IQ Students, Unite Students, etc.). and check the terms and conditions before you sign up.
